Think about your favorite dessert or ice cream. Imagine it vividly. Imagine what it looks like. Imagine how it feels in your mouth. Imagine the smell of the dessert or ice cream.
Now rate your degree of craving for the dessert or ice cream on a scale of 0 to 10, with 0 being no craving and 10 being the maximum possible craving. What’s your number? Write that down.
Now think back to the first time in your life you can recall tasting that dessert or ice cream. Was it a family favorite? Was it a special, occasional treat?
Think back to a special event that featured that dessert or ice cream. Then tap along with me and say these words out loud. Start by tapping your karate-chop point.
KC: Even though I remember the event, I deeply and completely accept myself. Even though the event happened, I fully accept myself. That event happened in my life, and I accept myself.
EB: The event.
SE: I’m vividly imagining the event.
UE: I’m vividly recalling the event.
UN: All of the sights, sounds, smells and tastes of the event.
CH: Everything I remember about the event.
CB: All of the people involved in the event.
UA: Me involved in the event.
KC: Everything about the event. It all happened, and I deeply and completely accept myself.
Now tune back into your craving for your favorite dessert or ice cream and assess your degree of craving on that scale from 1 to 10. Are you still at the same high number, or has your number gone down? Hopefully, it has gone down. We’ll now tap on the actual sensory qualities of that favorite food.
KC: I crave this food. I have always craved this food. I will always crave this food, and I still completely accept myself. My craving for this food might get stronger. My craving for this food might get weaker. Either way, I completely accept myself.
EB: Craving this food, what it looks like.
SE: Craving this food, what it tastes like.
UE: Craving this food, the texture of this food in my mouth.
UN: The temperature of this food as I eat it.
CH: The sight of this food on my plate.
CB: Everything about this food.
UA: Craving this food so much.
KC: Craving goes up, and I am still me.
KC: Craving goes down, and I am still me. Whether my craving goes up or my craving goes down, I am still me.
EB: It’s safe to crave this food.
SE: It’s not safe to crave this food.
UE: It’s never safe to crave this food.
UN: It’s always safe to crave this food.
CH: Always craving this food.
CB: Never craving this food.
UA: Who would I be if I didn’t crave this food?
KC: Who would I be if this craving goes away? Who would I be if this craving never goes away? Who would I be if this craving gets worse? Who would I be if this craving vanishes?
EB: Who am I without this craving?
SE: Who am I without this craving?
UE: If this craving goes away, will I still be me?
UN: Of course, I’ll still be me.
CH: I have all of my wonderful qualities and strengths,
CB: even without this craving.
UA: I need this craving.
KC: I don’t need this craving. This craving goes away now. This craving never goes away. I am me without this craving. I am not me without this craving. I am fine without this craving. I don’t need this craving anymore.
Whatever service this craving rendered to me, I don’t need anymore. Whatever benefit this craving gave me, I don’t need anymore. Whatever this craving contributed to my life, I no longer need it.
EB: This craving.
SE: Need this craving.
UE: Don’t need this craving.
UN: Really need this craving.
CH: Never need this craving.
CB: I am fine without this craving.
UA: I’m much better off without this craving,
KC: than I am with this craving. I thank this craving for the role it has played in my life. I now clearly tell the craving I don’t need it anymore. Thank you, craving, and I don’t need you anymore. Craving, I appreciate you having been there for me in my life, but I have chosen a different path now and I don’t need you anymore.
EB: I need you. I don’t need you.
SE: I don’t need you. I never needed you.
UE: I’m strong now without this craving.
UN: I’m strong now without this craving.
CH: I am me without this craving.
CB: I am fully me without this craving.
UA: When I lose this craving,
KC: I lose nothing. Now that I have lost this craving, I have lost nothing. I am me with or without this craving.
Now take a deep breath. Now strongly imagine that dessert or ice cream and rate your degree of craving on a scale of 0 to 10, with 0 being no craving and 10 being the maximum possible craving.
The chances are good that your craving is way down, maybe even at a 0. That’s the magic of EFT. If you still have some craving, think about other events of your life tied in with this favorite food and tap on them as well.
