Week 6: Loving & Accepting Yourself

You Made It to Week 6!

When I began my weight loss journey for real a few years back, I hated the way my body looked. I’d look at myself in the mirror each morning and feel disgusted with the rolls of flab around my belly. That was not a promising place to start.

To re-train my brain and overcome my resistance, I began looking in the mirror and saying “I love my body just the way it is.” After a few weeks, my self-talk began to change and I no longer filled my head with loathing, criticism and harsh judgment. That’s a much more promising place to start.

Even though you might have decades of self-criticism behind you, it hasn’t worked, and it’s time for a new approach. This week, we’ll give you audios and written materials to support a healthy body image and self-esteem. Download the audios to your portable device, read the transcripts, and practice the Tapping Scripts.

There are some very juice ones in Week 6, such as “I don’t look like her” and “I don’t want to buy myself nice clothes.” Karen Donaldson’s essay, “Putting It All Together,” helps you integrate everything you’ve learned over the past six weeks, with the goal of cementing it into your life style long term.
