Welcome to your first Tapping Script! Here in the Naturally Thin You course, you’ll find Tapping Scripts to help you overcome your cravings for foods that contribute to weight gain. The first one is for the most common craving, for chocolate.
The way you use this and the other Tapping Scripts is that you tap continuously through all the acupressure points while you read the script out loud.
We make suggestions for which point you tap for each statement:
EB: Eyebrow
SE: Side of Eye
UE: Under Eye
UN: Under Nose
CH: Chin
UA: Under Arm
KC: Karate Chop or Side of Hand point
However EFT is very forgiving and if you tap other points, you can’t go wrong. Just tap along and recite the script, and you’re likely to see an amazing drop in your cravings!
Take a piece of your favorite chocolate in your hand. Now smell it and rate the degree of your craving on a scale from 0 to 10, with 0 being no craving at all and 10 being the maximum possible craving. If you’re like most of us, you’ll be up at a 10 or close to it.
Now I’d like you to think back on an event in your life that involved chocolate, preferably an early life event. This could be a time when a favorite relative gave you chocolate.
It could be a favorite chocolate you ate as a child. It could be getting chocolate as a reward for being good as a child or having chocolate withheld as a punishment when you were a child.
Find an event that involved chocolate, preferably from before the age of 7. Write down your degree of craving for the chocolate on a scale from 0 to 10. Now tap along with me.
First, tap the karate-chop point on the side of your hand and say out loud “this chocolate.” Tap the EB point where your eyebrow means the bridge of your nose and say “this chocolate.”
SE: This chocolate.
UE: This chocolate.
UN: This chocolate.
Tap under your lower lip and say “this chocolate.”
CB: This chocolate.
UA: This chocolate.
KC: Even though I had this experience as a child that involved chocolate, I deeply and completely accept myself.
I’d like you also to think back on the event and vividly imagine the person, sights, sounds, smells, environment and experiences around the event. Keep on tapping on your karate-chop point while you do this.
KC: Even though I had this experience around chocolate, I deeply and completely accept myself.
EB: This experience around chocolate.
SE: This experience around chocolate.
UE: This experience around chocolate.
UN: Chocolate.
CH: This experience.
CB: This experience.
UA: Chocolate.
KC: This experience around chocolate.
Good. Now tune back into your body and see what number you are now. Pick up the chocolate again. Smell it. Don’t taste it just yet. Really sense how much you crave it and write down your new number for cravings on that scale from 0 to 10, with 0 being no craving and 10 being the maximum possible craving.
Your number has probably gone down. Maybe it’s gone down a lot. Let’s do some more EFT on your remaining craving for chocolate.
KC: Even though I still have some craving for chocolate, I completely accept myself. Even though my craving for chocolate might never go away, I still completely accept myself.
Even though my craving for chocolate might get stronger and I might become out of control and eat excessive amounts of chocolate, I still deeply and completely accept myself.
Even though this chocolate craving might never go away, I deeply and completely accept myself. I accept myself just the way I am, with or without this craving for chocolate.
EB: Craving chocolate.
SE: Craving love.
UE: Chocolate love.
UN: Love chocolate.
CH: Chocolate.
CB: Love.
UA: Love chocolate.
KC: Chocolate cravings might go away or might not. I love and accept myself either way.
Now take a deep breath and reassess your degree of craving for chocolate on that 0 to 10 scale. Write down your new number. You’re probably surprised to see it’s gone down a lot. That’s the power of EFT.
If your craving is not yet at 0, go ahead and redo this exercise, but now think of a different memory around chocolate as a child. If you tap on memory after memory, the chances are good that your degree of craving will reduce substantially or go away completely.
