However, what's not widely recognized is that for many people, trauma opens a gateway to growth. Research shows that two-thirds of people experience posttraumatic growth after adverse circumstances. By causing us to question our most fundamental assumptions about reality, they can even spark psychological and spiritual evolution.

This makes our suffering meaningful, and can change our view of it from a tragedy to an opportunity.
